This page documents the artistic efforts of Kerry Dickson in learning and producing works inspired by calligraphy, illuminated manuscripts, and modern calligraffiti art.
In due course it may be possible to purchase pieces and/or commission work, however, at present we’re in a skill-building stage.
Early Efforts

Anima Christi (I), approx. 8.5×11
This early effort contains the text of Anima Christi, a 14th century prayer.
The calligraphy is a medieval blackletter called textura. The decoration around the sides is inspired by a 14th century French manuscript known as the Luxembourg Psalter, which features many vining botanicals and birds of every sort.
The base paper for the art is acid-free bristol (Strathmore), which has been stained with tea. The calligraphy is in green India ink, and the illustration uses acrylic markers, acrylic paints, and imitation goldleaf. You can see where there are inconsistencies in the spacing and sizing of the calligraphy, as well as smudges from some less-than-careful execution. I was also unhappy with the bulky-ness of the illustrations.

Name Card (Joan), 6×4
Another early effort made as a gift for a young teen with name in goldleaf and a phrase from scripture below.
This is a free-style, modern design.
The base paper for the art is acid-free bristol (Strathmore). Materials used include: acrylic markers, imitation goldleaf and gel pen.

Verse Card (Isaiah 33:2), 6×4
A small piece made as a gift to incorporate Peruvian themes, accompanied by a verse of scripture.
The calligraphy is a medieval blackletter called textura. The design is free-style.
The base paper for the art is acid-free bristol (Strathmore), which has been stained with tea. The calligraphy is in brown India ink, and the illustration uses India ink markers, acrylic markers, and imitation goldleaf.
